Oswald Greenslade* Self-Published Author*

I've been waiting for the best time to introduce this particular self-published author and his unique book. Considering that July 10th is the 40th anniversary of Bahamas Independence, there could be no time better than now!

Oswald Greenslade
Oswald Greenslade, a True-True Bahamian has enjoyed a rewarding career spanning over 50 years as a Professional Bartender and Mixologist. In fact, not only did Greenslade win the Bacardi Bartender of The Year Award, he's also renowned for creating the flavorsome island drink - "The Bahama Mama." Yes. That's correct. Greenslade created that famous drink, along with "Splish Splash," "Bikini Below The Knees," and numerous other exotic tasting drinks.

It all began at the young age of 14 when Greenslade left his school books behind and eventually entered the lucrative hotel business. Ultimately, Greenslade found his way into the magical world of concocting flavorful spirits. He said that at first he was just going to try it and see if it fits. Well, he's been trying it ever since and obviously it fits!

Approximately two and a half years ago, "Slade," as he is affectionately called decided that he wanted to give back some of his expertise. Consequently, he began compiling his life work. Greenslade explained that he took pen to paper and started recording what he had stored in his mind. He said, "Learning to use the computer was my hardest obstacle." According to Greenslade, "There were many sleepless nights of remembering, writing and researching." The result of his endeavors can now be appreciated in his colorful and informative book, One More Cocktail.

Within the vibrant pages of One More Cocktail, Greenslade shares the ingredients, portion amounts and instructions involved in creating over 1,000 drink recipes along with their corresponding photos. He vows that by following his recipes, just about anyone can become an expert in creating perfect cocktails. There are even some recipes for non-alcoholic beverages that look and taste yummy. And for history buffs, One More Cocktail also provides a glimpse into a history of The Bahamas.

Currently, One More Cocktail is available at select book stores and novelty shops, as well as The Poop Deck restaurants in Nassau, The Bahamas. On your next visit, stop in and get an autographed copy from Greenslade himself. He'd be more than happy to concoct a personalized drink with or without spirits.

One More Cocktail is an attractive book, makes for an excellent gift, handy reference, or a conversational piece sitting pretty on - where else? - a cocktail table.

  2. Wow. He created The Bahama Mama? Cool. I remember that drink when I was in Nassau for a week of sun and yoga. Good information. Just reading about it makes me want to run out and get a copy.

  3. Very interesting and well written article, Jeralyn. There must be a lot of markets for this. Have you considered submitting your article to an overseas market?
